Frequently Asked Questions regarding Treport

Q1: What is Treport?

A1: It reports specific events that occur on a Motorola
trunked system which are sent out over the Control Channel.
The main purpose of this program is for diagnostics,
troubleshooting, and to learn more about trunked system
operation, NOT for entertainment purposes. It is primarily
an alternative to System Watch II from Motorola.

Q2: What operating system does it run under?

A2: Any version of DOS. Operation in a DOS Window is possible
    but not recommended by author.

Q3: What are the hardware requirements?

A3: Treport requires baseband audio from a communications
receiver which is fed into a schmidt trigger circuit to
convert the audio into a format for interpretation through
the serial port. And obviously, a computer is required.
Treport is not CPU intensive so it will run on whatever you
choose, even on a floppy. Treport will work off any pin (CTS,
    DCD, or DSR).
    See http://www.lcblanton.com/digital.htm for circuit
    examples.

Q4: How much does it cost?

A4: It's free. In the beginning I wrote it strictly for myself
but it became useful enough I figured others would find it
useful and appreciate it. It will never cost anything nor
will it be used to receive profit.

Q5: I need help with Treport or would like to discuss trunking?

A5: Send your comments or questions to the Egroups forum which
has a link on the main page.

Q6: I work for an agency which runs and maintains its own
Trunked system and I would like for my system to be black
    listed for use by Treport.

A6: Email me, I don't want my software to be used on a system
where the administrators specifically say they do not want
    it used on it.

Q7: I have something to ask but it isn't on here?

A7: Send it to the list or directly to the list administrator.
