David Norris was Born October 2, 1976, in Indianapolis, IN, U.S.A. Dave attended Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS). He attended Northwest High School. He also studied electronics technology, communications speciality, at Ivy Tech State College. Dave is an Amateur (HAM) Radio operator. Dave currently holds an Amateur Extra operator's license issued by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The Amateur Radio Service Callsign issued to Dave's radio station, by the FCC, is KG9AE. Dave enjoys computers and has many friends world-wide that he stays in touch with via the wonders of computing.
I own a number of computers. I enjoy programming, scripting and semantic markup languages. I have spent a good deal of time learning about computers over the years. With the proper perspective one can use a computer to help solve nearly any problem. We all have so far to go in understanding the true potential of these tools.
I have a Peet Bros Ultimeter 2000 weather station. I have the optional heated anemometer, Pro rain gauge, and outdoor temp/humidity sensors. My station is transmitting 5 minute average and total weather reports over the APRS packet radio network on 144.390 MHz FM.
At some point I plan to write daemon software in ANSI C to retrieve, log, and serve data from the weather station. I am currently using PERL scripts written by Jonathan Bradshaw.
I am interested in space exploration, population, and research. I spend a bit of my free time roaming the Internet reading space related articles. I am particularly interested in Mars research. I am even more interested to learn more about the theories of the planet Aster. If you know of any information sources regarding Aster then please direct an e-mail message to me.
Of course, I have seen every Star Trek episode imaginable. You've gotta dream a little. Yes folks, the photo to the right is an official geek badge. It is the one, the only, the Star Trek communicator badge. And, it most definitely makes the cool little 60's sci-fi, Star Trek communicator beeps when you tap it.
