Think first before you do anything else. As you are designing, continuously stop and evaluate your progress. Do not jump head first into a complex site design. (First hand experience speaking) Test your ideas with a small group before 'going live' or have a testing and design phase that evolves into the final design by your scheduled 'live' date. This will allow potential users to comment on your progress and offer suggestions. Donald Norman says it all, "Warning labels and large instruction manuals are signs of failures, attempts to patch up problems that should have been avoided by proper design in the first place."1
