Background Images...
Background images can be a big disaster. Be careful when using background images. If you plan to have a design along the left margin of the page then watch the Width of the image. You want the background image to be at least 1600 pixels wide. Any less and you run a risk of the image repeating itself on high-resolution video monitors.2 I suggest that you do not use a background image unless you are sure it will always work the way you think it will. A big problem with background images are poor (lack of functional) design. You can have a beautiful background that is impossible to read text over. Backgrounds can be nice, but, only if it is an appropriate background. So many people concentrate on a neat looking background and forget that you need to be able to read the text that is over the background. The background of this page is an excellent example of a good image. It is not as dull as a solid color, yet not distracting.
